InterPlay Demo & Performance

October 10, 2003

2:30 - 4:00: Brief introduction, demonstration of technology and audience walk through.

4:00 - 4:30: "InterPlay: Intransitive Senses" performance.

"InterPlay: Intransitive Senses" is a multimedia, multi-artist performance transmitted over Internet 2, experienced both live and on the Internet. This is Another Language's second performance of this type. "InterPlay: Intransitive Senses" will feature performances by Alex Caldiero, Harold Carr, Flavia Cervino-Wood, Beth Miklavcic, Hanelle Miklavcic and directed by Jimmy Miklavcic. This new work includes four simultaneous events by local performers. The audience can experience the event in several ways. They may attend and experience each of the live performance events, view the video streams at any of the Access Grid sites, or view them online with their home or work computer. For additional information about Another Lasnguage, go to http://www.anotherlanguage.org/interplay.

Performance Description

The four performance events are simultaneously captured, mixed, digitized and encoded into video data and are streamed onto the network with the use of multimedia communications workstations. The four streams are received by a similar workstation or personal computer and displayed on the screen. The Director manipulates each video stream to appear in any of the four video playback windows similar to Windows Media Player or Apple's QuickTime Player. This creates a work that takes four individual stories and weaves them into a multi layered distributed tapestry. Each artist has his/her thought process that leads to his/her artistic performance. The director moves that into another level by taking those performances and incorporating them into his own thought and creative process.
